Last, but certainly not least, the last stop on my western Canada trip was Calgary—home of The Calgary Stampede, Calgary Tower and the fabulous members of CREW Calgary. The city of Calgary has both charm and style, as well as a thriving commercial real estate market. The urban core is a vibrant and interesting mix of old and new with great green space and neighborhoods.
With visits to Remington Development, Stantec and QuadReal, it was clear to see that these leading companies are supportive of CREW and our mission to advance women. While attending the CREW Calgary board meeting, I learned about their chapter’s growth and the interesting and useful programs they hold in their market. Of course, I am always excited to see the passion and dedication of our leaders.

At their evening event, which was hosted at a local art gallery, there as a buzz of conversation and networking. The amazing art provided a unique backdrop for this well-attended event. It was a pleasure to address the group and share information about the CREW Network Benchmark Study Report and white paper. Both the content and the format provided an opportunity to truly connect with members. Kudos to Cheryl Wong for organizing a lovely evening. And thanks to the warm welcome of all of our members.

CREW Network board director Gillian Lawrence provided a terrific tour of the city. A good deal of multifamily is being developed both in the core and in the outlying areas. I read that Calgary is known as “Cow Town” because of all the greenery. It’s true! The city is spread over many acres and encompasses a great deal of natural beauty – and of course the Bow River, which intersects with the Elbow River, which flows through downtown Calgary.
Now when is that Stampede?!
Cheers,
WM
