Teaming for Convention

Softball team huddle

When I was growing up in my rural Pennsylvania town, sports were an important part of my life. And in a rural town, there’s not much going on so I tried everything. I played softball in the summer, volleyball in the winter and ran hurdles during track season. I should add that my one attempt at basketball ended miserably so that was out after one season! I wasn’t great at any sport, but I really loved being on a team.

Playing youth sports was always a great learning process to see others play, see what they did well, and try to emulate it. You know that feeling when you are the 14-year-old looking up to the 17-year-old softball pitcher and longing to be just like her.

I am reminded of this time as I head into my first CREW Network Convention and Marketplace. This has been a learning process for me and wonderful team effort as well. Two of my favorite things! The convention is not possible without teamwork. We have several teams that contribute to our success.

The Member Education Committee is the content team. They’ve worked diligently to bring thoughtful and insightful program sessions to this event. They’ve spent countless hours sifting through ideas and speakers to bring you the very best.

The Local Team: CREW Houston! The chapter has worked in partnership with us all year long to create the right mix of learning excursions, the leisure activities and all the little details that need time and attention to make an event special.

The CREW Network Board of Directors has been a strategic team guiding this event and providing their collective wisdom and insights. They recognize the importance of each team’s role in delivering an exceptional experience.

Finally, the CREW Network staff… they are the operations, institutional knowledge and management team. They bring all of the work of the individual teams together to create the magic. They are helpers, doers, thinkers, planners, strategists, and implementers.

When I reflect on what brings us to this convention and how we got here, I think about our brilliant teams. Without which, we could not deliver the magic: the networking, the business connections, the knowledge, and the deals. CREW Network is fortunate to have a fantastic cadre of leaders participating in making the magic that is convention. I can’t wait to get to Houston to celebrate our teams and our wonderful year. Go team!
