CREW Network Announces 2017 Foundation Leadership

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Six women were appointed to the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network Foundation Board of Directors, which will be led by Chair Jennifer Carey in 2017. The appointment was approved at the CREW Network Board of Directors meeting, held October 17 at the New York Hilton Midtown. Carey and the other members of the 2017 board will officially take office in January.


"CREW Network Foundation dedicates its resources solely toward advancing women in the commercial real estate industry through our educational programs, scholarships, mentoring opportunities and cutting-edge industry research," Carey said. "I look to working with our Champion Directors, members and donors to further our reach by continuing to raise awareness and funds that build opportunities for women and girls in CRE."

Jennifer Carey is CEO of JLC Environmental Consultants Inc., a firm she founded more than 25 years ago. Headquartered in New York City, JLC provides environmental consulting, testing, risk assessment and mitigation oversight services for real estate and construction on the East Coast, nationally and internationally. Since 1987, the company has completed more than 25,000 projects, from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx for the New York City Economic Development Corp., to the South Street Seaport/Pier 17 complex for the Howard Hughes Corp. in the Battery.

Active in the entrepreneurial community, Carey has held leadership positions in the Entrepreneur’s Organization, the Ewing Marion Kaufmann Foundation, the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, the White House Conference on Small Business, and the Governor’s Small Business Advisory Board.

Carey is a member of the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) of New York Inc. a chapter of CREW Network in New York City, where she served on the board for several years. She is currently finishing a two-year Director term on the CREW Network Board of Directors and has also served CREW Network on the Member Education Committee, Audit Committee, Communications Committee, as well as the Finance Committee.

New Champion Directors & Canadian Subcommittee

Five members were appointed to serve as incoming 2017-18 CREW Network Foundation board positions:

Adrienne Bain, Champion Director, is a vice president of Citizens Bank, N.A., where she is responsible for the prudent underwriting and effective credit and risk administration of a diversified commercial real estate portfolio. Prior to her tenure at Citizens, Ms. Bain was a vice president of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., where she managed the comprehensive capital analysis and review of the bank's $110-plus billion wholesale commercial real estate portfolio for the Federal Reserve. A member of CREW Charlotte since 2006, Bain has served on the Board of Directors and will be its 2017 President-Elect.

Monica Conners, Champion Director, is the Director of Client Development at the Lawrence Group, a national development and design firm. Conners manages existing and new relationships for the St. Louis, Charlotte, Austin and New York offices and is responsible for development of opportunities and leveraging economic impact of development projects. A member of CREW St. Louis since 2010, Conners has chaired the Programs Committee, served on the Board of Directors and was Chapter President.

Tori Robinson, Champion Director, is the Vice President of Sales at First American Title National Commercial Services and is currently responsible for business development for the office in Downtown Los Angeles. She is a Foundation Chapter Champion, an Advisory Board Director and Past President of Commercial Real Estate Women of Los Angeles (CREW-LA). She has served CREW Network on the Member Education Committee.

Tara Steell, Champion Director/Canadian Subcommittee, is President of TW Steell Consulting. She has experience in residential land development, project management, construction, administration, policy development, project implementation, public consultation and engagement, and business strategy. Steell has been a member of CREW Calgary since 2009 and has served as Chapter President, Program Co-Chair, and Foundation Chapter Champion. She has served on the CREW Network Nominating Committee and is a 2016 graduate of the CREW Network Certificate in Leadership Class.

Marie-Josée Turmel, Champion Director/Canadian Subcommittee, is a Senior Director at PSP Investments, one of Canada’s largest pension investment managers, with $116.8 billion of assets under management as at March 31, 2016. She joined the company in 2010 and specializes in real estate investment banking as well as acquisition and monetization of commercial real estate assets. A member of CREW Montreal since 2003, Turmel is a Past President and has served as Chair of the Sponsorship Committee.
