Megan Roberts and fellow CREW Cleveland members worked together on five transactions in the tens of millions of dollars for Yum! Brands. The American fast food company operates the Taco Bell and KFC brands.

Megan Roberts is an Ohio attorney who has been a member of CREW Cleveland and a powerful source of deal flow for fellow CREW members over the past several years. Before joining The Wendy’s Company in Dublin, Ohio last year as Senior Legal Counsel-Real Estate, Roberts was a Partner in the Cleveland office of Ulmer & Berne, LLP where she was an instrumental team member for Yum! Brands.  The client service team leading the portfolio transaction work was primarily a female-led team and committed to doing business with other women in CREW.

Throughout the course of 2017, Roberts worked with former CREW members Kim Campbell and Deborah Lawrence-Auten on five significant portfolio sale transactions in the tens of millions of dollars for Yum! Brands. Their deals landed the CREW Cleveland Chapter a Member-to-Member Business Award, and their success was a brilliant demonstration of harnessing the CREW network to benefit women in the industry. Some of their transactions included:

  • 7 Taco Bell stores in Southern Ohio

  • 10 KFC Stores in Houston/Austin

  • 22 KFC stores in Columbus

  • 41 KFC stores in Houston area (in the midst of Hurricane Harvey)

  • 42 Taco Bell stores in Denver area

Today, Roberts is honored to work at Wendy’s alongside fellow CREW members, including Dana Calvert (Toronto CREW), Canadian Director of Development. Roberts is also currently working across the table from Edmonton CREW member Patti Macdonald’s firm, Bishop & McKenzie, on a new Wendy’s restaurant project at the Edmonton Airport. Roberts credits a dinner party conversation with Macdonald at the 2018 CREW Network Spring Leadership Summit as a key mentorship moment, which helped her make the decision to join Wendy’s. It was clearly meant to be!

Outside of this transaction, Roberts referred multiple matters to other members both within the CREW Cleveland chapter and other chapters and continues to look for ways to expand her CREW network.  She embodies the mantra of seeking “CREW Network first” and has helped strengthen connections between other members.  Roberts is genuinely working to advance the success of CREW members and women in the commercial real estate industry.
